This past summer, our family of five spent a weekend at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country in San Antonio, and it was a dream for both kids and adults. From the lazy river to kid-specific pools, family perks, and even room features that made traveling with a baby easier, this resort has it all.
As soon as we arrived, we noticed how the resort manages to feel spacious and calm despite being packed with families. The hill country setting gives it a relaxing vibe, while there’s still plenty for kids to explore. Our kids, ages 10, 7, and 7 months, immediately gravitated toward the pools — we knew it was going to be a fun weekend.
The resort’s water amenities are a highlight:
Lazy River: Perfect for floating with our little one while older kids splashed and played.
Waterslide: There’s one fun slide, which our 7- and 10-year-olds went down repeatedly.
Kid Pools: Shallow areas were perfect for our baby to splash around.
Tip: The FlowRider surfing simulator was surprisingly easy to book — no stress securing a session.
Our room was spacious and well-equipped, and a few features made traveling with a baby much easier:
Adjustable fridge – perfect for bottles and snacks. Temperature was definitely 39 degrees or less.
Comfortable sleeping arrangements for the older kids and baby
Ample seating area for relaxing in the evenings
Pro Tip: Request a room near the main pool if you want easy access for quick dips or to watch the kids from your balcony. The property is nicely laid out though so if you're not near the pool, you're near the lawn for movie night or by the playground.
The Hyatt goes beyond pools:
Early check-in & late check-out (especially handy with little ones). We were able to get an additional hour for check out.
Resort credits that we could apply toward activities
Kid-friendly activities like nature trails, playgrounds, and seasonal crafts. There were daily crafts, movie nights, and my kid's personal favorite, smores!
Even with a baby in tow, there was always something for our older kids to do while we had a chance to relax.
While we didn’t eat on-site this visit, the resort offers several dining options:
Having a variety of dining options is always a plus when traveling with kids.
We mostly booked using Hyatt points, which made the stay more budget-friendly for our family of five. It cost 20k points per night versus a cash price of $365 to $420 per night (plus additional taxes and resort fees). For a total of 3 nights, we paid 60,000 points and saved close to $1600. Points bookings often include perks like waived resort fees, early check-in, resort credits, or sometimes free breakfast — making it easier to enjoy a stress-free stay.
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country is perfect for families who want relaxation, fun, and convenience all in one place. From our 7-month-old splashing in the shallow pool to our older kids enjoying the waterslide and lazy river, everyone had a memorable time. If you’re planning a family getaway near San Antonio, especially using points, this resort is worth considering.
